macOS Download Steps ​

Install Mixin Messenger on your Mac computer.

System Requirements ​

  • macOS 10.13 or higher
  • At least 200MB available storage

Download & Installation ​

  1. Visit Mixin Messenger Download Page
  2. Find the latest version's macOS installer (.dmg file)
  3. Click to download the .dmg file to your Mac
  4. After download completes, find the .dmg file in your "Downloads" folder
  5. Double-click the .dmg file to open the installation image
  6. Drag the Mixin Messenger app icon to the "Applications" folder
  7. Find Mixin Messenger in the "Applications" folder
  8. Double-click to open the app
  9. If prompted "Cannot open app from unverified developer", go to "System Preferences" > "Security & Privacy" and click "Open Anyway"
  10. Start creating or importing an account

Handling Security Prompts ​

Method 1: Through System Preferences ​

  1. A security prompt will appear when trying to open the app
  2. Open "System Preferences" > "Security & Privacy"
  3. In the "General" tab, click the "Open Anyway" button
  4. Confirm to open again

Method 2: Using Terminal Command (Advanced Users) ​

xattr -cr /Applications/MixinMessenger.app

Common Issues ​

Cannot open .dmg file? ​

  • Ensure download is complete without interruption
  • Try downloading again
  • Check if system version meets requirements

App appears damaged? ​

  • This is usually because the app is not notarized by Apple
  • Use the methods in "Handling Security Prompts" above
  • Download from official sources to ensure safety

App crashes or won't start? ​

  • Check if system version is macOS 10.13 or higher
  • Restart Mac and try again
  • Delete app and reinstall
