Getting Started ​

This guide will help you quickly get started with Mixin Messenger and begin managing your digital assets and staying connected with friends.

Step 1: Download the App ​

Choose the version according to your device type:

Step 2: Create an Account ​

  1. Open the App: Launch Mixin Messenger for the first time
  2. Choose Create New Account: Click the "Create New Account" button
  3. Save Mnemonic Phrase:
    • The system will generate a mnemonic phrase (12 words)
    • Be sure to save these mnemonic phrases securely
    • The mnemonic phrase is the only way to recover your account
  4. Verify Mnemonic Phrase: Select the mnemonic phrases in order to confirm you have saved them correctly
  5. Set PIN Code: Create a 6-digit PIN code for daily operations

Important Note

The mnemonic phrase is the only way to recover your wallet. Please be sure to:

  • Write the mnemonic phrase on paper and keep it safe
  • Do not take screenshots or store digitally
  • Do not share with anyone
  • Consider making multiple backups and keeping them separately

Step 3: Set Up Your Profile ​

  1. Upload Avatar: Click the avatar area to upload a photo (optional)
  2. Set Nickname: Enter the name you want to display
  3. Mixin ID: You will get a unique Mixin ID for adding friends

Step 4: Add Friends ​

There are multiple ways to add friends:

Via Mixin ID ​

  1. Click the "+" button in the top right corner
  2. Select "Add Friend"
  3. Enter the other party's Mixin ID
  4. Send friend request

Via QR Code ​

  1. Click "Scan"
  2. Scan the other party's Mixin QR code
  3. Confirm to add friend
  1. Click "My QR Code"
  2. Select "Share Link"
  3. Send the link to friends

Step 5: Start Chatting ​

  1. Send Messages: Select a friend from the contact list and start chatting
  2. Send Files: Click the "+" button to send pictures, videos, files, etc.
  3. Voice Calls: Click the call icon to initiate a voice call
  4. Create Groups: Create encrypted groups for multi-person chat

Step 6: Use Wallet Features ​

Receive Cryptocurrency ​

  1. Go to the "Wallet" page
  2. Select the currency you want to receive
  3. Click "Receive"
  4. Share your wallet address or QR code

Send Cryptocurrency ​

  1. Go to the "Wallet" page
  2. Select the currency you want to send
  3. Click "Send"
  4. Enter the recipient's address or select a contact
  5. Enter the amount
  6. Enter PIN code to confirm

Tip

Transfers to Mixin contacts are free!

Security Best Practices ​

  1. Protect Mnemonic Phrase: This is the only guarantee of your assets
  2. Enable Biometric: Use fingerprint or facial recognition to enhance security
  3. Regular Backups: Ensure your mnemonic phrase backup is safe and reliable
  4. Verify Address: Be sure to carefully check the receiving address before transferring
  5. Small Amount Test: For first-time transfers, it is recommended to send a small amount for testing
